The Basics of Buying Ladies Golf Clubs Part 1

by Walter Ballenberger

Ladies are at a disadvantage when it comes to putting together a set of golf clubs that fits them well and from which they can get the most out of their games. The reason is that there are few choices in normal off-the-shelf ladies golf clubs. With typically less than 10% of sales for a golf club company coming from ladies golf clubs, there are simply few choices in club styles, shaft flex, swing weights, or lofts normally available in most golf shops. An exception to this is the excellent line offered by Nancy Lopez Golf Clubs. That is the subject of another article, but you can easily find their web site with a simple search.
In general women have slower swing speeds than men and need shorter clubs and higher loft. There are of course women with better and stronger swings than most men. Lorena Ochoa of the LPGA tour averages about 270 yards on her tee shots. This is astonishing for a woman who weighs about 115 pounds! She is the top rated professional woman player in the world, however, and this article is meant for women with less ability than the top LPGA pros possess.
Driver ConsiderationsYou must know your swing speed with at least a driver and preferably with both driver and 5 iron. Women who can swing the driver more than 70 MPH can use titanium faced drivers effectively and take advantage of the spring effect off the face that such a club offers. If your driver swing speed is more like 60 MPH, you would have to find a special titanium face, and these are not readily available. If you are that serious you will probably be having custom ladies golf clubs made by a certified fitter and club maker. So in that case ask your club maker if he or she can offer options. As for club face loft, the slower your swing, the higher the loft is needed. If you can easily get the ball in the air, a loft of 13-14 degrees should work well for your driver. If you have trouble getting the ball in the air, you may need to use a 16 degree 3 wood to get the most out of your swing. Other ways to help get the ball a bit higher in the air are to use an offset hosel or a more flexible shaft.
Fairway WoodsFairway woods are critical clubs for women or men with slower golf swings. If your swing speed is in the 60MPH range, you should start your fairway woods with a 5 wood and leave out the 3 wood. Your other woods would then probably need to be a 9 and 13 wood. The reason for skipping an odd numbered wood is because you won't be hitting the ball that much farther with a 5 wood than you will with a 7 wood, for example. In other words the gap in distance between the two clubs is not enough to justify carrying the other club. Regarding club length, there should be at least a one inch difference for each odd numbered club. That is, the 7 wood should be one inch shorter than the 5 wood, and the 9 wood should be 2 inches shorter than the 5 wood, for example.
For women who swing 70 MPH or greater, a 3 wood could be a good choice, but it should have at least a 16 degree loft in order to keep the ball in the air longer. This group of golfers can justify having every other odd number wood in their bags, such as 3, 5, 7 and 9 woods, for example.

The History Of Golf

by Bentley Loveday

Golf for Entertainment
We live in a stressful world, so it's only natural that we look for new venues of entertainment to ease our minds. You can get a lot of entertainment when you play the game of golf. Especially if you're willing to have a little fun with it!
Some people get plenty of entertainment when they simply play the game of golf. But it can be made so much more fun when you put twists on regular games. You can modify the way you play and get a lot more enjoyment from the game.
For example, why not play a game of "monkey golf". For this game, you put slips of paper in a hat that bears the name of each club in a normal bag. Players pick out a slip of paper and they have to use only that club for the entire round. The entertainment possibilities here are endless as you can imagine a person driving off the tee with a putter or chipping with a driver!
You can find great entertainment in the golf game when you play a little night golf. Golf courses aren't lighted, but you can get glow in the dark balls and have grease pots on the greens so you can see where you're going - well, sort of. It's great fun to drive your ball and then have to navigate in the dark to see where it went! Let's hope you didn't slice into the woods!
A friendly game of Wolf is hilarious entertainment. With this game, you have the option of picking players to be on your team based on how they hit the ball. Teams can change often. But the most fun of this game is when a player is putting to win the hole. The other players are allowed to do anything they want as long as they don't touch the ball. That leaves the field wide open. You can cover the player's eyes, place obstacles in front of the hole - the possibilities are endless - and great fun!
Some friendly side bets can also increase the entertainment value of the golf game. Try making these bets with dares instead of money. Wouldn't it be funny to make your opponent play with his or clothes turned inside out if they don't make that putt? Use your imagination and be creative - however, keep it G-rated. The golf course is, after all, a public place!
Finding entertainment on the golf course is actually quite easy when you think outside of the proverbial box. Just remember that the whole point of a friendly game is to have fun. So go out and do it!
However, the Scots are generally adamant that the game of golf was a Scottish invention on St. Andrews golf course. The name "golf" is a derivative of the Dutch word "kolf" however, so as for who really invented the game, we say who really cares!
It really doesn't matter who actually invented the game, but what does matter is how the history of golf has evolved over the years. Golf courses have not always had eighteen holes. St. Andrews began with eleven holes dictated by the topography of the land the course was located on. Players would play the eleven holes out and then back in to total 22 holes. Later, several of the holes were deemed too short and were combined with each other. That reduced the number from 11 down to 9 so a complete round of golf was comprised of 18 holes.
By 1744, the game of golf had become wildly popular. So much so that a group of men called Gentlemen Golfers decided that a set of rules must be laid out for fair play. They came up with a list of thirteen guidelines on playing the game.
Major changes since the 19th century have occurred in the equipment needed for play. Better mowers made greens easier to play on. Golf balls designs would evolve by using rubber and man-made materials which made the ball fly longer on a drive. The wooden golf tee would make the drive easier.
No discussion of golf history would be complete without talking about the advances made in golf clubs. Metal shafts came about in the 1930s and most drivers were made of wood which is why they are called woods today even though they are most commonly made these days of metal or titanium. The golf shaft design has also gravitated towards graphite which is lighter and makes the club easier to swing.
When referring to the history of golf, we can debate exactly where the game originated, but the game of golf as we know it today, most certainly came about in Scotland. Even if we're wrong, we do still have this wonderful game - and most of us are very glad about that!
Golf Course
The game of golf is played on a golf course - obviously. But have you ever thought what goes into making a good golf course? I mean, what makes a good golf course, and what makes a not-so-good golf course? While we don't have the space to go through specific design layouts, we can touch on some of the aspects of a golf course that makes it fun to play yet challenging too.
Like the miniature golf course, a regular golf course should be fun. You really can't add the fun windmills or other hazards on a regular golf course, but you can use the natural elements of the land to help build challenges into the layout.
Obviously, the first thing you're going to need is land. I mean, you're going to need A LOT of land! The golf course must have some long yardage holes as well as some shorter yardage holes. However, most golfers will agree that having mostly longer holes is a great challenge. But they also need those short par 3s for a little ego boost!
Having several sand bunkers is a great way to present challenge on the golf course. Bunkers are now placed on the fairways as well as around the bunkers causing more golfers headaches! Having to hit out of the sand provides for all sorts of stroke modifications, and golfers love to have the challenge at hand!
The challengers on the golf courses are numerous one such is the dreaded water hazards. Rivers and lakes in theire natural enviroment are found everywere on the golf course. and man made water hazards are dug out and then filled with water over large areas! Water hazards make a player have to use finesse to avoid them and make a golf course fun to navigate.
The golf course that we play most often used to be a cow pasture. The rolling hills that used to have Holstein's instead of golf carts make this particular golf course a lot of fun to try and get "up and down" on. Rolling hills cause a golf ball to - take a guess here - roll! You may have a great drive, but if your ball lands on the side of a hill, it will either stick there making your shot hard or it will roll off the side. Either way, this is another way to make a golf course challenging.
Natural trees and woods are also part of the golf course environment. There's nothing worse to hear on a golf course than the sound of your ball hitting a tree. Then you have the fun task of trying to find out where the ball landed. Did it go further in or did the tree propel it out into the fairway? You have a great way of either way to challenge yourself against natural elements.
The fun of designing a golf course is shared by player and designer alike. Take in the natural elements of your favorite golf course and then navigate through those hazards with a positive attitude. Then you'll be having fun!

by Wade Robins

The Golf Gym Power Swing Trainer Exercise Program is a full body golf workout program. It comes with the ProPerfect Training Grip with PowerCord, a DVD developed by pro golfers full of training tips, a book on how to use the Program to maximize your training, a reference guide and a bag.
The Exercise Program is designed to help golfers:
- Strengthen the muscles they use when playing.
- Improve accuracy and muscle memory.
- Work on developing their golf swings, no matter what swing they use.
- Avoid injuries by keeping muscles flexible and in good shape.
The Program encompasses all of this. It's flexible and easy to use.
ProPerfect Training Grip with PowerCord
The key to the training program is the Training Grip. This unique device was developed by a group of pro golfers and athletic health professionals 20 years ago.
It has a grip designed like the grip on your golf club, with 2 cords that can be stretched. The cords are connected at the end by a piece that has loops for easy attachment to anything.
You use the Training Grip in several different ways. For example, you can connect it to some part of the house and practice stretching it, twisting your body as you go like you would when you are making a shot.
There are lots of different exercises you can do with the Training Grip, and they are all simple. Because the grip itself is modeled after a golf club's grip, it helps you get your grip tight as well.
There are three cord strengths available: light, medium and heavy. These models offer different amounts of resistance, depending on the strength of the golfer. Usually, the whole Exercise Program costs around $40, but for $60 you can get a set with all three cord strengths.
The Training Grip is better than exercising with ordinary weights because it actually feels like a club. With the Grip, you can do exercises that are exactly like what you are doing on the course, so you'll work the specific muscles you need. And, you can practice any swing with it.
Instruction Materials
The package also comes with an instruction booklet, reference guide and training DVD. The DVD is 45 minutes and has Dr. David Wright, one of Golf Magazine's Top Teachers. He's also a senior teacher at Golf Tips Magazine. It also has Kathryn Roberts from the Golf Channel.
The DVD shows you how to do 37 different kinds of exercises and warm-ups. Once you get into the hang of using the Grip, you can develop your own. The instruction materials show you how to personalize your Grip workout to your own individual golfing style.
The Golf Gym Power Swing Trainer Exercise Program is appropriate for any level of golfer. The Grip is easy to use, and customers have given glowing reviews of the product.

Junior Golf Clubs- What to Do?

by Walter Ballenberger

30 years ago there weren't too many sets of real junior golf clubs to be found, and there weren't that many people buying components and making their own clubs either. I found a person who did make clubs and had some old ones cut down for my two kids. My son must have been barely 3 years old, and his 9 iron didn't show much of the metal shaft: it was all grip! The head was extremely heavy, and he couldn't really swing the club, he sort of picked it up and hacked down at the ball like the club was an axe! The kids both had fun, however, and they always lit up when I suggested going to the driving range to hit balls. These days parents have many more options, and they can find decent junior golf clubs at surprisingly reasonable prices.
Doing it RightEarl Woods always made sure that Tiger had clubs that fit him when he was growing up. With clubs that are too long or too heavy and with grips too large, the junior golfer is going to have to make swing adjustments that will probably cause bad habits which will be difficult to correct later on
Club LengthThis is the major consideration, and suffice it to say that your junior golfer should not be playing with clubs that are too long. Sure, you want your kids to "grow into them", but if they have to choke up more than 2 inches they will have to modify their swings. Your kids will probably only get 2 to 3 years maximum out of a set of junior golf clubs, so you should set that expectation if you want your kids to play and enjoy golf. Unless you purchase a Calloway junior set or a set from another major brand, new clubs can be acquired at very reasonable prices. More on that shortly.
Club and Club Head WeightDon't do to your junior golfer what I did to my son. Get him or her clubs that are the correct weight. Junior sets normally have light and flexible graphite shafts and proper club head size and weight.
GripsYoungsters need grips on their junior golf cubs that fit their hands. Fortunately thin grips for kids are readily available these days, and most decent junior sets use those.
Prices- New ClubsA quick internet search showed an number of interesting options. AMF had a set of junior golf clubs for ages 3-5 for about $80. The set had a wood, a hybrid club, an iron, and a putter. The clubs had light weight flexible graphite shafts, and the golf bag and a few other accessories were included. They also had sets aimed at 5-8 year olds and 9-12 years of age for a bit more money. In contrast, I saw a junior Calloway set for 9-13 year olds selling for $240.
Why Not Ebay?A quick search on Ebay for "junior golf clubs" resulted in seeing several hundred auctions, most of those for brand new clubs. If you find a reliable seller you can get some excellent deals. I saw a brand new set for the 5-9 age group that had a top bid of only $15, and there were only 15 minutes left in the auction! So to get that very first set to determine if the child will be interested in playing golf, Ebay might be a great solution.
ConclusionMy grandson is 1 years of age right now, and I'm already thinking about taking him to the driving range in about a year. He'll be luckier than his uncle (my son) was at his age, and he'll have junior golf clubs that fit him reasonably well and which he can actually swing. I can't wait to see him hit a few shots that get up into the air a bit for the first time. The sooner he can accomplish that and experience some success, the more he'll enjoy playing golf not just as a youngster but throughout his life.

by John Hill

At approximately 5000 acres, the Marina de Cope project near Aguilas in Murcia, Spain is destined to be the largest tourist resort development not only in Spain, but also in Europe.
The declassification of up to 27,000 acres of Spanish coastline has paved the way for this, the ultimate tourist destination - encompassing 22,000 hotel beds, 9,000 residential units, five golf courses and a vast 69 acre marina that can accommodate up to 2,000 boats.
The Marina de Cope also promises two mixed-use town centers, village entertainment district, cultural civic center and a prestige sports complex which, in addition to the five golf courses, will offer tennis, soccer, cricket and polo. Construction will begin in 2007 and is scheduled to be completed by 2022. Upon completion, the Marina de Cope project will bring the largest transformation to the Murcia region in recent times.
The Marina de Cope project happens to coincide with the opening recently of a new dual carriageway, the AP-7 (Autopista del Mediterraneo), hugging the Mediterranean coastline between Cartagena in Murcia and Vera in Almeria.
Also in 2007 the tender was awarded to build Murcia / Costa Calida's new international airport, just 15km south of the city of Murcia in Corvera. This international airport is expected to be operational by 2010 according to the regional President of Murcia, Ramon Luis Valcarcel. And is expected to be used by one and a half million passengers during its first year of operation, although that is expected to triple in the short to mid term
Already, four low-cost airlines which currently operate out of San Javier airport(Ryanair, Jet2, Easyjet and Air Berlin) will transfer operations over to the new Murcia International Airport in Corvera when it opens in 2010.
There is absolutely no doubt that exciting times are ahead for the Murcia / Costa Calida region of Spain and that Murcia is destined to be placed firmly on the map.

Umbrellas FOUR Business - Promotional Golf Umbrellas

by Tina Rinaudo

It's a well known fact that all executives love to golf. It's no wonder, then, that some of the most popular executive gifts are golf related. If your clients and CEOs of companies you do business probably own a complete set of club cozies, it's time to consider promotional printed umbrellas.
Those that play golf regularly have definitely been caught in their fair share of afternoon rain showers. Being prepared for these surprise storms can make a huge difference in ones game. Take a few minutes to put some thought into the promotional golf umbrella you choose and they'll reach for yours each and every time the rain drops start falling.
Size MattersWide umbrellas are best for the golf greens. Choose one that is at least 30 inches wide. The Wentworth Golf Umbrellas, sold by YesGifts, feature a 30 inch wide canopy and are available at a reasonable price - starting at just 3.85 each.
Miniature umbrellas are typically any under 29 inches wide. These are usually offered at a discount. While they can save you a little money, they don't offer the coverage most golfers require when the rain comes pouring down.
Shaft MaterialYou don't need to tie a key to a kite and fly it in a thunderstorm to know that lightning is attracted to metal. Rain and lightning go hand in hand and you don't want your executives to have a shocking experience because you chose a cheaper, metal shafted printed umbrella.
There are plenty of shafts that aren't made of metal and they don't have to cost you a fortune. Wood shafts are heavier and have a classic feel. Fiberglass shafts are a little more expensive but are lighter and easier to handle.
Wind TestedWind gusts often accompany rain storms so it's important to choose a printed umbrella that will withstand blistery breezes on the fairway. When shopping for promotional umbrellas, look for brands with double ribbing and duel anchored fixings. Breathable or double canopy models are great for wind resistance since the breezes can go through the umbrella rather than take it away.
Color OptionsThere are plenty of color options when choosing printed umbrellas but which is the right one? If you choose something too loud and bright, your executives may not want to use it. Choose something too plain and it may not be noticed.
Ideally, you should choose colors that remind users of your company without offending their sense of color and balance. Make sure whichever color scheme you choose, your printed umbrellas are constructed with coordinating thread and your logo will stand out against the background.
Take the StakeWhen looking at printed golf umbrellas, you need to make sure the one you choose includes a plastic stake on the end. When a golfer is ready to take his or her shot, they typically turn it upside down and stick the stake in the ground to keep it from flying or rolling away. Without a stake, your printed umbrella recipient may be stuck with a dirty umbrella or worse, chasing it down the fairway. Remember to avoid the metal stakes - they act as lightning rods.

Marbella - Go where you can golf

by Seb Jay

It's that time of the year when you pack your bags and leave on a family vacation: but you would rather golf. Make life easier for you by combining the two in Marbella, decidedly the best spot on the globe where golfing lends itself easily to a family outing. Here you have some of the best courses in the Costa del Sol area, in addition to sunny skies, golden beaches, and stunning landscapes, with all the associated pleasures.
Golfing for the family man - Places like the Atalaya Golf & Resorts take the strain out of vacationing with family and golfing at the same time. Here they have the perfect proposition that combines two fabulous 18-hole courses, with provisions for adventure activities like kayaking, rock climbing and water sports that should keep older kids engaged. You can concentrate on a good game of golf while they can probably hear your "fore." However, this may not always work as perfectly as it sounds.
What are we supposed to do when you go golfing?!!!Now you knew that was going to come up. Not to worry, Marbella accommodates all types, not just golfers. Funny Beach is where young children get a piece of action with Go-Karts, Mini-motorbikes, trampolines and water sports. Or they might prefer bowling at the Mega Bowl Sports Bar, which caters to all levels from professionals to the drop-ball-on-own-foot beginners; after which one might choose to limp to the Video games centre to soothe an aching ego. Another Marbella speciality is jet-skiing using cables rather than a motor-boat.
For the golf-widow - The Contemporary Spanish Engravings Museum houses works by Picasso, Dali and others. If art is not really your thing, you can proceed to the Bonsai Museum situated in the Arroyo de la Repressa Park. If architecture is what fascinates you, head down to the Orange Square where you can gaze at the Town Hall, Magistrate's House, and the Santiago Chapel, all dating back to the 15th century or so. If it's a Monday make sure you drop in on the street market, which runs from 9.00a.m to 2 p.m. next to the Recinto Ferial Marbella, where you might find ancient treasures at bargain prices. If you are in a particularly daring mood you might even sign up for flamenco dancing classes at the Escuelas de Flamenco en Marbella.
How to move around Marbella -While local transport is available and well-connected, you would find it more convenient and time-saving to hire a car for the duration of your stay. It beats having to wait in long queues and wasting precious time that could be spent in more pleasurable activities like, say at a golf course. You could hire a car of your choice in advance, so it will be waiting for you at the airport on arrival. It would also make sense to reserve child car seats if you are travelling with small children. You can do all this online at Your-Carhire.com - specialists in Spain car rental services to ensure a happy vacation.

Sotogrande golf

by Seb Jay

The grandest golf courses in Europe await you in this putting paradise. If golf is on your mind this is where you should be heading. Sotogrande will take care of all your green dreams and more with courses like the Old Course and the Almenara Golf Club that is supposed to be challenging even for professional players. Half a kilometre away is the famous Valderrama Golf Club associated with the famous Volvo Masters and the Ryder Cup.
The real Sotogrande - Though made famous as a luxurious, top-quality sporting facility, visitors are simply awed by the natural beauty of this land which thankfully, has been well-preserved in spite of extensive development. Golden beaches are a common feature all along the Costa del Sol, but the ones here are secluded and tranquil, which makes for a different experience. There are two Beach Clubs -El Cucurucho and El Octogono -where you can indulge in an exotic buffet, a sauna or massage.
Sports other than golf - In spite of its prestige as a prime golf destination, Sotogrande does hold the honour of being the only place in Europe where Polo is played all year round. In fact it is even known as "The Empire of Polo and Sun," and owns five of the world's best polo grounds. This piece of information might come as something of a shock to golf aficionados, but you could consider trying your hand at this sport when you are tired of teeing off. Other sporting options include tennis and volley ball, besides a variety of water sports.
The lesser-known Sotogrande - Estuario del Rio Guadiaro is a stretch of protected marshland. There are wooden walkways which make it easy to negotiate, while you get back to nature in a big way. It is the perfect spot for bird watching and winding down after a hard day of sport. It might surprise you to know that just a 3 hour drive can transform your sunny golfing expedition to a snowy skiing trip on the slopes of the Sierra Nevada.
Other must-see places - If you do come to Sotogrande, whether it be for the golf or the scenery, visits to a few neighbouring places of interest would make your trip complete. You simply cannot leave without seeing the Rock of Gibraltar which is just 20 minutes away. Tangier, Cadiz, and Sevilla are also historical cities each replete with its own legends and mysteries.
Getting around Sotogrande - It would be a good idea to hire a vehicle for the duration of your stay, whether it is to check out the numerous golf courses, or to simply take in the divine scenery. Local transport though available, might not suit your personal itinerary. Having your own transport can make a huge difference to the quality of your vacation. You can do this in advance along with the rest of your travel arrangements by going online at Your-Carhire.com - specialists in Spain car rental services and that's one less thing for you to worry about.

Simple Golf Swing

by Paul Ronston

The Simple Swing system will show you how you can have the most accurate and consistently longer shots ever thus letting you enjoy your games more and dramatically lower your scores.
By following the Simple Swing System you will be able to produce greater power and distance much more consistently and slices will be a thing of the past quite simply by learning 3 basic fundamentals. Thanks to the ten years of research the average golfer can play good golf without spending hours on the driving range or playing disheartening golf. Every club is utilized and the Simple Swing System can work for golfers of all levels.
Studying the strengths and weaknesses of golf swings, researching all other training methods along with studying the drives of long drive champions, researchers were able to come up with the Simple Swing System which although it incorporates many features of long drive and alternative swings it is a very unique method which generates a straighter, easier, more powerful swing.
When developing Simple Swing one of the main aims was to be able to get a beginner playing a decent game of golf quicker. Like anything else you have to practise of course but the swing can be learned much quicker than the traditional swing methods. During testing studies showed that beginning golfers could actually progress 5 to 10 times quicker using this method rather than conventional methods by reducing the things that usually cause the beginning to "mess up".
By using your traditional setup position combined with the 'Power Thumb Grip', which is one of the secrets of Simple Swing, it is easier to keep the club "on plane' during the back and down swing, eliminating the slice and one of the keys to the Simple Swing System is to teach beginners how to efficiently use the core of your body, which is your torso to increase distance.
Many beginning golfers have marvelled at how easy learning to play using this system which ensure they enjoy the game and continue to play similarly, more experienced golfers who have been battling for some time to correct their slice, gain greater distance and or improve their accuracy have found the Simple Swing System the answer to the problems and are now boasting to their mates about their improvement. Let this revolutionary new system take the frustration out of your golf swing and your level of golfing enjoyment.

Golf Insurance

by Steve Katz

Golf insurance is one of the uniquely important factors in the game of golf. Even though it appears naive, golf insurance does play a vital role in the safety of the golfers and their golf equipments in any golf course. But how could a silent and an irrefutably soft game like golf demand insurance? A golfer who paid hundreds to thousands of dollars to compensate for the accidental damage he caused or a golfer who had to get a new golf kit for himself since he lost his own could explain the major role golf insurance plays in the security and welfare of a golfer.

Accidents happen in any game and in fact it could be worse in golf given the varieties of equipments being used in golf. A simple example could be the case where a golfer's retina was permanently damaged due to the accidental slip of the golf club from a co-player's hand. The injured golfer promptly sued the other, the plea was legally accepted and due to the unforeseen accident, the golfer who did the mistake had to pay a heavy penalty for it. Accidents of this sort are most likely to occur with frequent golfers who play golf for the fun, get frequent players points and frequent golf courses since the probability of meeting with an accident gets higher and higher as the frequency of play increases.

Another common situation that would prove the importance of golf insurance is the loss of golf equipments specifically golf clubs. Golf is indeed a costly game and it is not feasible to get a new golf kit over and over again. Even though this appears a pretty rare situation, reality is actually terrifying. Reports say that golf clubs worth millions of dollars are being stolen every year and in US alone over 10, 000 golf clubs are stolen every year.

Now that we had seen the importance of golf insurance, let us take a look at the tips and tricks of Golf insurance. As with any other insurance, golf insurance can be as tweaked as possible. Unless the golf insurance completely covers you including the various possible locations of the accident/theft, the possible types of accidents the insurance covers you from and also depending on the insurance coverage amount, insurance companies might easily get you trapped. It is very important to make sure that the golf insurance taken up covers the complete damage amount, all possible accident locations including the car parking area where the golf equipments could be easily stolen and that there are no asterisks around the coverage scope. In short it is necessary to ensure a complete golf insurance coverage in all locations and in all possible accident zones.

In short, in a game like golf that could be costly both in terms of the equipments and the damages incurred and it is highly essential to ensure that there is a proper insurance cover so that the vacation that started off with a wonderful golf tour doesn't end up in financial loss and mental stress.

Knowing Your Golf Balls - The Dimples Count

by Nathalie Fiset

Although they may appear like ordinary game equipment, golf balls are actually the products of physics and years of golfing tradition.
According to the standard international rules of golf, a single golf ball should not weigh over 45.93 grams, or close to two ounces. Its diameter should always exceed 1.68 inches, or 42.67 mm. A golf ball, moreover, should be in the shape of a symmetrical sphere. Golf balls, moreover, are scrutinized by two main accrediting bodies: the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews and the United States Golf Association. If golf balls do not pass the tests and standards set by these two associations, these balls cannot be used in a golfing competition.
Such is the strictness associated with golf, but despite its seemingly misplaced austerity, the rules are not without their merits. Golf, after all, has been around for centuries, and the game as we know it today can be traced back to the Scots. Golf balls, moreover, can spell the success of a game: hit it right and swing it in the right direction, and you can land a hole in one. That, of course, discounts the effect of the wind, the sun in your eyes, the humidity in the air, and the overall setup of the golf course, but the importance of golf balls and their design can still not be discounted.
To understand how golf balls move and impact a game, it is important to look at how basic physics can affect the game of golf. The impact between the edge of a golf club and the golf ball lasts no more than a millisecond, but it is this impact that can ultimately judge how fast the ball can travel, at what angle it is launched, and the rate at which it spins - all of which will determine its final location. There are two main aerodynamic forces that act on the ball: lift, which buoys it through its trajectory; and drag, which forces it back and keeps it from moving.
In any sport, decreasing the drag on equipment will ultimately increase one's control over the equipment itself. The same is true in golf: if the overall drag on the golf ball is released, it can fly faster and follow one's intended direction better. This is why golf balls have dimples. These dimples can decrease drag by reducing the wake turbulence caused by the ball traveling through the air. Wake turbulence can be especially high in non-dimpled balls.
Dimples, moreover, can increase the backspin on a ball. In general, a backspin can increase a ball's lift by altering the shape of the air as it flows and forms around the ball. With more back spinning, a ball can fly much higher, and even longer in the air. However, dimples can also accumulate dust and grime, so golfers need to wash their equipment frequently, balls included. A clean golf ball translates into a balanced ball, cleared out dimples, and a game where the golfer is in better, greater control.
A golf ball will have, on average, anywhere from three hundred to nearly five hundred dimples. All balls have an even number of dimples, although there is only one kind of ball with odd numbers available on the market. This 333-dimpled ball is acceptable in golf games. A golf ball, moreover, has to be symmetrical, since a non-symmetrical golf ball can sometimes adjust its axis during mid-flight, and can wobble, causing direction changes that may or may not favor a golfer.
Aside from the position of the club, a golf ball can determine the merit of a shot. It may be surprising to outsiders, but a golfer can usually make more bad than good shots. This is because there are many possible factors that can allow the game to go wrong, such as sudden changes in wind speed and direction, differences in humidity at varying elevations of the golf course, and even the slightest noise from the crowd or the golfer's companions just before the golfer makes his swing. Such golfing mistakes can be described by a variety of terms, such as a slice, where the ball curves sharply in the direction of the player's playing hand; or a worm burner, where the ball bounces vigorously on the ground.
If you are interested in purchasing golf balls, then inquire at your local golf equipment store. Because there are many different brands available on the market, you will need to consult with an expert on what brands of balls are best for your game, and which are approved by international golfing committees. Before you tee off, clean your balls and make sure that they are free of dust and grime. With clean equipment and good working knowledge of golf, you can play a fulfilling and more enjoyable game.

Hitting it Off for a Date with Fate: Knowing your Golf Clubs

by Nathalie Fiset

With the way they move on television, an outsider would think that golfers need only their spines and arms to make a hole in one. In the world of golf, however, all the world can conspire against a golfer's success: the ball can be uneven, the wind can suddenly blow in a different direction, and the golfer's swing can falter at the last minute. Every last detail matters in golf, from the design of the golf ball to the weight of the golf clubs - in fact, there are so many ways that a game can go wrong, so that golfers have become artists in the field of making fate work in their favor.
Golf clubs are important in golf, as they can determine how far and how fast a ball can go. There are also different designs of golf clubs, depending on the length of the shaft, the material out of which the club is made, and the width or area of the spot where club meets ball. An average golfer will have a set of about fourteen clubs, consisting of the different types of golf clubs, all of which are designed for different parts of the course and different scenarios.
The Woods are the longest kinds of golf clubs, and they are often utilized to undertake long shots. Woods have large heads where the club will meet the ball; these heads are somewhat spherical, with one side bulging out like the edge of a baguette, and with a flat bottom meant to slide over the surface of the course without damaging the ground as the golfer engages in a swing. Because such clubs were once made out of wood, such as beech, maple, or ash, such clubs carry the name today, even if they are already constructed out of titanium, steel, or other strong metal composites.
With the advent of technology, woods are now made out of hardier materials, earning them the name metalwoods. In the early days of modern golf, metalwoods were fortified with foam, to keep them strong, especially since hard swings could make the club shaft crack. There are also different kinds of woods, arranged according to number: the 1 wood, or driver, has the largest head, and is most often used off the tee, or to start a game; shorter woods, or fairway woods, allow golfers to hit golf balls out of the turf.
Irons are golf clubs that are useful in shorter shots, and are utilized by golfers on the greens. These are versatile clubs: advanced players can use irons for a variety of shots, and do not need to keep changing clubs, no matter where they are on the course. New technology, however, has allowed golf equipment designers to come up with a hybrid club, which can allow golfers to do away with large irons.
Hybrid woods are golf clubs that have all the good hitting properties of irons, but also contain the low point of gravity of woods. Hybrid clubs are about two thirds the size of a fairway wood. Hybrid clubs can be used from hard roughs, where golfers have to make a long shot while they can hardly see the ball. In fact, hybrid clubs can be used for any kind of shot where the golfer can find using an iron difficult.
Another kind of golf club, the wedge, is designed to lift the ball out of difficult places, such as the sand. Sand wedges, for instance, have a specifically fashioned underside that can allow a golf ball to overcome the sand particles that can cradle its individual dimples. On the other hand, putters are special clubs that allow golfers to roll a ball across a surface, rather than launching it into the air. Putters are useful for players who are close to the hole and are playing on the green. However, some golf players use putters anywhere where they feel that rolling the ball will do their scores more good, or if they see that they can accidentally launch the ball onto adjoining parts of the green from which there can be no escape.
If you are interested in purchasing golf clubs, you can contact your local golf equipment manufacturer and ask about what kinds of clubs they are offering. Look for clubs that are not only of high quality, but that will fit your budget as well. If you know the physics behind golf, and the use that each kind of golf club serves, you will play a better golf game and enjoy your day on the course much better..

A Golfing Tip to Help You Improve Your Golf Game

by Nathalie Fiset

Who doesn't want to play a good golf game? With every new technology that creates the newest golf club or the better golf ball comes the intention to hit farther and swing better. We all could use a good golfing tip, whether we're newbies or pros. As swings and distances become better, we find more satisfaction in knowing that yes, indeed, our game improves. Here are some of the golfing tips that can help make your game better and meaner:
Remember the basics.Playing a good golf game means keeping the basics in mind. After all, the basics are everything you need to know. Golf is not about muscle or pure strength or some other skill based on physical prowess. In fact, there are many golfers who play excellent games even with physical disabilities. The reason why they play well is because they know the fundamentals of this game and use those to improve their personal abilities.
Accuracy before distance. Most new golf players' attempts at playing their first golf games are usually an exercise in whacking - because that's all it is. Whacking is not the same as swinging and its purpose is all about hitting the golf ball as hard as you can. Big mistake. In fact, two big mistakes.
This second golfing tip is all about building and honing your accuracy first before you attempt at creating distance. What's the use of being able to cover 300 yards in one swing if it goes in the wrong direction? Each swing of your golf club must have a purpose and a particular direction. Your golf ball must go where you intend it to go.
Next, you don't hit the golf ball - you stroke it. Again, it's all about the purpose and focus. Hitting the golf ball is merely letting it fly while stroking it means leading it in the right direction.
It's all about the body parts.Another golfing tip to remember is that a good golf game does not begin and end with your eye on the ball. It begins and ends with the actions of the different parts of your body and how they are coordinated to produce a movement that will carry through. These include: 1) your feet, 2) your legs and knees, 3) your hips and shoulders, 4) your arms and 5) your hands and wrists.
Once you have mastered how the movement flows from these parts of your body down to your golf club to produce an explosive swing, you will know exactly how to use your strength to create the right kind of swing to lead the ball in the right direction.
Get the right equipment. In the same manner that you can't shoot a picture with a hair dyer, you can't play a good golf game with the wrong equipment. Learn which golf equipment to use that will complement your body type and size. There's a particular size of golf clubs and drivers you should choose depending on your height. The type of clubs you buy will also depend on your strength. Find out which golf equipment will work best for your playing style.
Remember good golf etiquette.Golf is a gentleman's game and good etiquette plays a role in its reputation and appeal, that is why it comes with some of the most time-honored rules and unspoken agreements. You break these rules at the risk of your own reputation. Remember that certain rules are not broken just to improve your score.
If you must play a course, play it the way you find it. Don't try to manipulate your environment by changing it to fit your purpose. Golf is all about managing your obstacles and if you must become an excellent golf player, you must learn to work around your obstacles and conquer them instead of changing them.
Practice. Always practice.Of all the golfing tips included here, this is probably one that you should use as a mantra. Even the Tiger Woods of our time did not get to where they are by merely playing the occasional monthly golf game. If you must improve your game, then spend time and effort in honing your skills. Golf requires that your body, specifically your muscles, remember the exact set of movements that produce the desired effect. The more you practice these movements, the more you'll be familiar at performing the right stance, getting the right grip and making the right swing.

Hole-In-One Golf Gifts

by Bradlley Mckoy

"I get to play golf for a living," says Tiger Woods with a toothy grin. "What more could you ask for?"
Tiger Woods is golf's most dashing young icons, and his success has generated renewed interest in golf and golfing all over the world. Golf continues to shed its stigma as a sport only the rich and the bored play. In fact, today, people of all walks of life are practicing their hooks and slices on over 32,000 golf courses throughout the world. In China, for example, the first golf course opened only in the 1980s, but now there are over 200 courses scattered throughout that country. Golf holidays and vacations are the hottest golf trend, allowing people to see the world while playing their favorite sport. With numerous golf products on the market, selecting a golf gift can be as difficult as choosing the right putter for a difficult golf shot. But with some research and discriminating judgment, you can pick a present that scores a hole in one!
Remember the Golfer
Remember the golfer when you choose your golf gift. If he wears t-shirts and jeans 365 days of the year, do not buy him a golf necktie. If eating chocolate makes his skin break out into a rash, then do not get him a bucket of chocolate golf balls. In picking your present, mull over what the golfer's hobbies and interests are. You know he likes golf, and talks about it as frequently as he does about his ex-wife. But what other things does he like other than golf? You can consolidate the answers to these questions with the golfer's vehement love for the sport.
Make a Gift Profile
Who says you can't keep files on your friends like the FBI does? Compile information about your friends' preferences, so that every time you need to give golf gifts away, you know the scope of your options. Oh, and be sure to tick off the ones you've already given. It wouldn't do to give the same present year after year.
The Gift Profile should include information about the person himself, such as his age, marital status, place of residence, and profession. It should also include information about his interests, such as how he spends his free time, his favorite or least favorite food and drinks, and his fashion style.
Be Practical
Your golf gift should be practical. This means it should be useful, if not at present, then at some future time. Here are some examples of golf gifts that have very high utilitarian value:
* Golf chip and dip platter/ salsa bowl* Golf wine rack* Golf magazine rack* Golf desk lamp* Golf towel* Golf barbecue utensil set* Golf tote bag
Another option is picking goofy golf gifts. These make highly memorable gifts, and your friend could show it off to visitors at his home:
* The Golf Piggy Bank looks like a pig riding in a golf cart.* Golf Slippers are slippers that look like shoes.* Funny Golf T-shirts include the prints "how to throw your golf bag" and "how to break your golf clubs"* Novelty golf balls, including floating golf balls and exploding golf balls* The Broken Window Golf Ball which, when placed on glass, gives the appearance of a golf ball shattering a window
Ultimately, whether you choose to give a personal, practical or wacky golf gift, pick one that makes you a winner in the game of gift-giving!

Why Golfers Must Take Golf Lessons

by Nathalie Fiset

Any golfer who wants to improve his game must take golf lessons. There are other reasons why a golfer must sign up: 1.) He or she does not have the inclination or the time to practice. 2.) He or she is not willing to exert the effort in finding a credited golf instructor 3.) He or she cannot afford a credited golf instructor 4.) He or she neither has the open mind nor the patience.
Now the factors mentioned above are what the golfer needs in order to improve his game. He must have the time, inclination, will, effort and money to get the best golf instructor he can afford.
For those who are just getting into the game of golf, you will get a lot of benefit from a credited and top-notch instructor. You will definitely get the fundamental swinging techniques and know of the improper golf stances are.
Saving money is one of the factors preventing golfers in hiring a professional golf instructor to improve their game. So here's how you can do this. If you are not into the game that much, then save your pennies by not hiring one. But if you are an avid golfer and you feel that you will be playing the sport for a long time anyway, then you can see this as an investment. Just remember that it is easier to learn the proper golf swing when you are just beginning as opposed to changing up a swing that you are already used to doing because it's a bad one.
However, if you are not keen to the idea of paying a professional golf instructor, then don't take any lessons. Just go to the golfing range and see whatever technique comes naturally for you. Do not take swing tips from other golfers like your relatives or even your friends. They will only affect whatever comes natural for you.
The golf lesson involves the following:1. Pictures and video cameraPictures give the student an idea on what the right stance is when swinging. In terms of form and stature, this is the best learning tool. The video is also helpful for students and instructors. The only problem is that when viewed on a screen, it is perceived as two dimensional. The student is missing the whole idea of what is actually happening when swinging the golf club.
2. ExplanationsRemember that a good instructor explains the concept in a thorough and clear manner that there is hardly any doubt arising from the students after the discussion. Instructors should also ask the students to repeat back what they have learned for the day. In this way, the instructor can gauge the understanding level of the student.
3. ProofOf course, a golf instructor has to have proof in order to back up what he explains to the students. This is not merely for the purpose of the golf lessons. It also serves as the validity of what the student learns from the professor. As the student, one should never assume that whatever the instructor says is right. Sometimes, it is not at all.
A student can make the most out of his golf lessons by visualizing the movement that he is taught through these factors and concretizing it by practicing the technique himself.
When doing this, he must be patient. Mastering the golf swing, especially as a beginner, requires an understandable amount of time. There is no room for frustration and giving up. Most beginners hurl the club after a few swings because they believe that they will not be able to get it right.
Maintain an open mind. Do not ever assume that because you have a golf instructor, everything they tell you is correct. You have the right to ask for proof to validate his statements. This may be in the form of pictures showing what the instructor has advised you to do.
Work on only one concept at a given time. If the instructor pushes you to take on more than one, then look for another instructor.
Now after taking the lesson, the only thing left for the student to do is to practice the swing even without the golf ball for ten minutes a day. The more frequent and the longer the duration, the better.

Stepping into Greatness: Getting the Best Golf Shoes

by Nathalie Fiset

The best game of golf is played with the right equipment. You will need a golf ball that is accredited by the major golfing organization of the Royal and Ancient Club of St. Andrews (or the R & A) and the United States Golfing Association (or the USGA). You will need golf clubs that are best suited to your grip - and you will need a set of them if you need to change your play at different stages and scenarios of the game. You will also need the best golf shoes.
What makes golf shoes so special? Golf shoes are designed to increase the grip of a golfer's feet on the ground, whether he or she is strolling through the turf, plodding through the sand, or inching his or her way through the mud and tall grasses of the rough. Golf shoes are also meant to keep the golfer firmly on his or her feet throughout the game, whether he or she is playing on dry ground, under the often oppressive heat of the sun; or on wet ground, in light or heavy rain.
These special shoes have small, exchangeable spikes on them, which are attached to the soles, and which can come in different forms, shapes, and materials. A special kind of spike is made of plastic, and can look like a miniature claw; this is called the soft spike. Not all golf shoes are designed in the same manner, however: many professional golfers will have their own custom-designed shoes, with special spikes and insoles to fit their feet perfectly. And not all golf courses require their players to wear the same shoes: some golf courses will require that their players wear a certain type of shoe, depending on weather conditions and the state of the golf course at that time.
In fact, not all golf courses recommend that their players wear shoes with spikes, which are often termed cleats. True, spikes can increase traction for the golfer, and can allow a golfer to fully utilize the power of their legs during a swing. Cleats can also prevent a player from slipping or falling if, by any chance, his or her ball lands on a precipitous or undulating part of the course.
However, spikes can represent a big problem for golf course operators and maintenance crew. If these spikes push too far into the ground, they can damage the golf course and tear up patches of earth. In fact, the best golfers wear non-cleat shoes, and know how to balance their bodies well enough so that they can provide their own traction. Some golfers also opt to wear golf shoes with suction cups, since these provide traction without damaging the golf course.
In any case, golf shoes are a requirement in most golf courses, and are important if you are serious about your golf game. If you are shopping for golf shoes, look for the best bargain available: in other words, get a pair of shoes that will not only fit you well, but will not tax on your budget. First of all, there are many kinds of shoes already available, and you need not feel that you should be constrained to wear the sneakers-type shoe.
If you have wide feet and spread-out toes, then you might want to use golf sandals, or look for shoes that have wider soles. Many shoes for golf are built for slender female feet, or average male feet. If you opt for these sneaker-type shoes, you can find it painful to walk around the golf course. Comfort is your first priority in golf, so be sure to pick shoes that will fit your feet perfectly without you cringing as you take that swing.
If you are playing golf with business partners, or if you are seeking to seal a business deal while on the course, then you might want to opt for dress shoes. There are such options for shoes for golfing, so inquire at your local golf equipment retailer on what kinds of styles are available. Not only should you be comfortable on the course, you should also be dressed at your best.
There are also shoes with removable or replaceable cleats, so look for such shoes and invest in good cleats. Moreover, do not feel confined to a single set of cleats: you need spikes for your day in the rough, and large cleats for the grassy part of the course. In other words, the best golf shoes are those that will make you look good, feel good, and play well. They will also do the least damage to the golf course - so start shopping and investing, and get the best shoes for your great game!

A Look At The Basic Step By Step Golf Swing

by Wade Robins

It looks easy, doesn't it? Pros like Tiger Woods make it look like their doing nothing more than breathing. But, actually, their hitting that ball with the same kind of force a boxer uses when he smashes the other guy in the jaw.
Learning how to make a golf swing is intimidating, but it just takes a little analysis and practice. Here's the step by step golf swing, all laid out so it's easy to see...
The Address
The address is your basic set-up before you make the swing. The address is just important, if not more, than the actual swing itself.
One important thing to remember is to keep your head up and your eyes open. Too often beginners don't look around them and hunch over the ball.
Think of your head as a pivot, and let your shoulders and back swivel easily around, keeping your head in the same position. This should help you when you make your swing.
Keep your eyes on where you want the ball to go. Some golfers find it helps them to first visualize the ball making that hole.
The Takeaway
The takeaway is when you pull back to make your swing. When you do your takeaway, your shoulders, back, hips and arms should swing back in one, nice, fluid movement.
As you swing back, shift your weight from your front to your back foot. Don't pick up the club; swing it back naturally.
Don't rush it. Your body is like a spring, winding up to make that shot. Winding up quickly won't help you make a longer or more accurate shot. In fact, it will do more harm than good. Slow and steady gets the job done.
The club face should be about 90 degrees from the ground. The tip should be pointing upwards.
The Backswing
This is really a continuation of the takeaway, but this is where your shoulders really come into play. Imagine that spring winding up. Now, you should keep your arms swinging in that natural motion as the club goes behind you.
You should be turned so that your back is now facing your target. Your shoulders should be facing the ball squarely. Almost all of your body's weight should be on your back foot.
At this point, the spring should have its maximum potential energy. You should be ready to swing!
The Impact
Now swing! Don't slow down as you approach the ball. This is a mistake lots of beginners make. Hit the ball with your full force, and open up your shoulders when it strikes.
The swing should be a natural, fluid movement. Let the spring unwind naturally. Don't force it down.
The Follow-Through
After you're done swinging, your chest should now be facing your target. Imagine yourself throwing the club toward the target. This will help you make a good follow-through and, if done right, it will help your swing.
The most important point is to do it smoothly. If your balance and posture aren't just right, it will be hard to do this.
And remember: Nobody gets it right the first time. Or the second. Or the third. It takes lots and lots of practice. But, there's nothing greater than seeing how you've improved!

Is This Your Year for an Ireland Golf Vacation?

by Judi Mehrens

Ireland is truly a golfer's paradise, and it has some of the most impressive golf courses in the world. Here is a look at a few of them. Perhaps this will give you the incentive to book your vacation now.
The Ballybunion Courses, both Old and Cashen, are a must see and play for any serious golfer. Located in County Kerry in Southwest Ireland, the course is 65 miles from Shannon Airport and presents a lovely drive to get there. The town of Ballybunion welcomes visitors with a statue of President Clinton in full golf swing (he is much admired in Ireland for his work at reconciliation). The Old course is said to remind visitors of St. Andrews, and Cashen, built in 1984, has been described as "a theatrical event all its own, and a highlight of any golfing visit to Ireland."
Druid's Glen is located just 30 minutes south of Dublin in Newtownmountkennedy, County Wicklow, and it is considered to be one of the finest parkland courses in Ireland. The area where it is located is known as the Garden of Ireland, in an area with lots of wildlife. The name Druid's Glen comes from a pre-Christian stone altar discovered during the construction of the course. The altar stands today with a Druid priest presiding over the 12th green. How's that for a bit of interesting bragging when you get back to your home course?
Royal Dublin Golf Course sits on an island 3 miles north of Dublin and was the first club in Ireland to have 18 holes. Although originally built in 1895 in Phoenix Park, it moved in 1890 to its present location on Bull Island, in Dublin Bay, which is also a protected wildlife habitat. This course offers a glorious golf experience in a setting that provides breathtaking scenery.
Lahinch, County Clare, is often described as "the St. Andrews of Ireland," and the site also offers two courses, Old Course and Castle Course. Lahinch town is just over 30 miles west of Shannon Airport in County Clare. Founded in 1892, the course today is a favorite of a number of pro golfers. Castle Course offers the sights of Castle ruins as you play through.
Finally, Adare Golf Club, County Limerick is host to the 2007 Irish Open. It is an 18-hole parkland course established in 1900. The course is built around the ruins of Desmond Castle, built in 1200, and the ruins of the Franciscan Abbey, built in 1464, offering challenges to concentration and diversions from the course.
These are only five courses out of hundreds to be found in Ireland. There are accommodations either at the courses themselves or quite nearby, ranging from luxurious to the more basic. You can plan your own vacation or avail yourself of the many tour planning companies that specialize in golf vacationing. While not cheap, there are ranges of prices to fit most vacationers' budgets.
A tour of Ireland's magnificent and varied courses is certainly on every serious golfer's wish list. Make this your year for an Ireland golf vacation.

Free Golf Training Videos

by Staffan Moritz

I came back from a round of golf and was curious to find out if there were any free golf training videos on the market. Needless to say, when I typed the words into Google, an overwhelming number of results came up! If there ever was any question of how to play golf, there shouldn't be. Free golf training videos will answer all of them.
Here are some examples of a couple of great ones available:
At LearnAboutGolf, there's a free golf training video teaching you how to get a ball out of the bunker without it flying off into all directions or rolling back into the sand. The instructor is very personable and friendly. Check it out, it's worth it!
The DreamSwing offers a free golf training video online. The video depicts exactly what it takes to make that perfect swing using The DreamSwing. A golf instructor actually gives you step by step training on how to obtain the perfect swing using The DreamSwing. The goal of the video is to teach you how to remain on the perfect planes with your arms and club. Many other website also offer free training videos to help you improve your swing and your score.
Many free golf training videos will show you how the professionals do it and provide inspiration for the overall improvement of your game. As I watched these videos, I was inspired to actually try the tips myself. The videos give you a bird's eye view of exactly what it takes to come in under par. The instructors are well-versed in their golf game. It's almost like having a professional teach you right in your own living room. Plus, they go through the motions of the swing and techniques very slowly so that you can learn as efficiently as possible.
I think that free golf training videos are essential to every golfer's game. They offer valuable insight at no cost and, if you're lucky, you can find one that is instructed by a pro. The video quality is usually very good so that you can actually see the fluid movement of a correct golf swing or technique that the instructor is trying to convey.
The instructions are slow enough so that you don't have to pause and replay the video in order to have the best understanding of the instructions. Most free golf training videos can be played with a Windows Media Player directly from the Internet. So, take the time to look up free golf training videos. Your golf buddies will come to you for advice.

How To Choose Good Golf Shoes And You Can Maintain Your Par

by Ditto White

The choices one has when looking to purchase a good pair of golf shoes are to either go to a local retailer or go online. Going to an online retailer allows the person to try on different pairs before making the best choice. When shopping using online services, one does not have the luxury of trying on the pairs of shoes before making the choice of which to buy. There are numerous shoes to purchase. One must look at the specific requirements he or she desires in a good golf shoe. Here we will list some important key points to consider so that you can make the right choice of golf shoes. The wrong choice will inevitably affect your game. Also, make sure you choose among several so you can select that perfect pair of golf shoes.
Golf Shoes Choices Available
Golf shoes come in a variety of sizes for men, women, boys and girls. There are adult, as well as children's, sizes available. The golfer needs traction to walk on these courses thus the shoes will have spikes. Most all golf shoes have spikes. The spikes also help to give them a firm footing on the golf course allowing the stable movement. You can also find spike-less golf shoes and even golfing sandals. Retailers many times are trying to also sell golf shoes that have a sporting look to them, but are comfortable as well. However, when you go to buy golf shoes, make sure you find a pair that will provide not only comfort but support too.
Some Common Things Customers Ask About the Golf Shoes they want to Buy
To some who golf, the golf shoes are nothing but an optional style statement. Some mistakenly equate quality with looks. These people buy the golf shoes for looks only and never stop to consider the effects golf shoes have on their game. It has been shown that proper footing is critical to a good golf game and you cannot achieve proper footing without proper shoes. In fact, many golfers place footing and the traction as one of the most critical aspects of "getting off on the right foot" with their golf game. And if you find golf shoes that have good utility and are comfortable then that will be most beneficial too. Shoes that look great and have all the utility and comfort are the best, but beware that you may start paying more for all three of these characteristics. When you go shopping for golf shoes, you are going to need to prioritize the features you need and appearance should be on the very bottom of your list as it has nothing to do with a great golf game.

Golf Accessories You Know You Should Have

by Nathalie Fiset

A golf accessory is just a golf accessory, but oh, the difference it makes. People can argue for days on end about how golf accessories can affect their game but one thing's for sure: if golf accessories never did anything for anyone, how come they're still for sale? And how come people still keep buying them?
Regardless of what people have to say about golf, it is still a game that is dependent on a lot of factors, some of which are little things in the form of accessories that give you just a little more grip, just a little better swing and just a little bit aim. Here are some of the important golf accessories you must have:
The golf bag
Whether you lug it around or have your trusty caddy or golf cart do that for you, a golf bag is the accessory that is absolutely necessary. Not only does it contain all your stuff, in the unintentional uniformity of the fairway, your golf bag is also your fashion statement.
The most common golf bag is the basic carry bag, built as a slim container of everything you hold dear in golf and also one of the most affordable. This slim number can weigh as little as 3 lbs. because it's meant to be carried around in a strap over your back and shoulder as you traverse the greens. These days, you even have a choice between the single strap and the double strap. The double strap is great if you're carrying a heavy load of clubs and irons because it spreads the weight of the bag over your back.
On the opposite side of the spectrum is the tour bag, often found hogging the headlines along with the last tournament's winner. Tour bags are the largest golf bags you can find and can be quite heavy. It's called the tour bag because it is often used by tour pros. This is a great bag to have if you like to carry around a lot of stuff with you and if you use a caddy. Otherwise, you may want to stick with lighter bags or go for the cart bag.
The golf glove
As a golfer, your weapon is your club and the best way to wield this weapon is to know how to hold it. That means you should be able to provide enough grip to ensure you do give it the right amount of energy from the time your swing begins to the time your club strokes the ball. To make sure you do have this much power, you need a pair of gloves.
There are many players who prefer to have nothing come between their hands and their clubs but there are also those who recognize the advantages of having a glove in handy (no pun) when they tee up. So how does the glove help?
A golf glove protects your hand from moisture (such as the rain) and absorbs any sweat you might produce. That means you're never in any danger of getting your club slip from your hands during a very hot day. Leather, which is often the material of choice for golf gloves, also provides you with a better grip. And if your club has a worn-out handle, a golf glove will give you a good hold where there is none.
Tees
There are still the shorter 2" tees but lately, the trend has shifted to the longer-sized. This is because most golfers prefer to tee the golf ball at a higher level, especially if they are using the 460cc drivers. These days, wooden tees are slowly relinquishing their popularity to plastic ones because the latter are more durable and have a longer reusable life than their natural versions. There are also biodegradable tees that, when left in the ground for too long, slowly break down and join the earth.
Other innovations have also popped up around golf tees. These days, there are also tees that feature prongs on the surface, meant to carry the ball and reduce the amount of area that is in contact with the golf ball. According to its designers, this helps reduce resistance at impact when the club strikes the ball. Whether they work better or not is for you to see. Remember that any extra performance you can give in your golf game is worth a try.

Connect yourself with your golf club through your grip

by Nathalie Fiset

By properly placing your hands on the golf club, you have better control of the club's face position especially during impact. Whenever your body turns and swings the club, it creates more power. The body rotates, so does the golf club. It is said that there is stronger impact if the body and the golf club rotates simultaneously as if they were together and like a team.
A good grip can produce the feel and the power any golfer needs to improve his game. The key is wrist action because this is a mighty source of a powerful swing. This can be achieved by properly gripping the club. The golfer just has to remember that the palm of his hand can reduce wrist action so he must be aware of how it moves along with the fingers.
The fingers are the sensitive areas in our hands that can greatly influence the impact of the golfer's swing. By placing the golf club in the fingers and not in the palm, the wrist hinge increases which lead to tee shots that are longer and has more feel to it.
The problem is that some golfers are weak on their lead-hands that the pressure relies on the palm too much and not on the fingers. This results in a shot that lacks power and slices across the range.
Therefore, a golfer must know how to properly grip his golf club in order to get the accuracy and the power needed to improve his game.
He should hold the club three feet up in the air and right in front of his body. The club faces square and at an angle flowing through his fingers. The golf club must be positioned on the base of the golfer's little finger and the other fingers are right above the joint of the golfer's index finger.
The golf club must be placed at an angle which depends on the positioning of the fingers. The right way is the left thumb (for players whose right hands are their lead hands) is positioned to the back of the golf club's shaft.
The golfer must see the V-shape area amidst the forefinger and the thumb of the lead hand. This V must be pointing backwards toward the lead-hand's shoulder.
Remember that the grip is what can greatly affect the power and the accuracy of the swing. By simply putting the hands properly on the club, the golfer will be able to manipulate the position of the face at the moment of impact. How the body swings also results to great power.
Another key is to rotate the body at the same rate the golf club is rotating. This must be done accordingly.
This is achieved by treating the trailing hand (the golfer's bottom hand) as the dominant. It is necessary that the dominant hand is placed in a position that would allow the golfer to deliver a strong blow at close impact of the swing and not overpowering the top hand. Therefore, both hands must be a team. Their grips and placements are crucial in consistently striking the ball in the proper way.
Here is how the golfer can do it. He can hold the club with his lead hand by placing his index finger on the trailing hand which is directly under the golf's shaft. This must be slightly positioned in a downward angle. Then cover the lead hand with your thumb in between your palm. This is the right grip for you to easily control the golf club as you do a powerful swing. Make sure you can put your hands on the golf club as you control the impact from the club face.
Cover your lead hand with your thumb trailing across your palm. This properly places the golf club in a better controlling position for you to do the swing that can give off the greatest impact. This has more power whenever your body rotates at the same rate and same direction as of the club.
The fundamentally right grip has feel and power. The right wrist action is the source of power and gripping the club extensively, especially in the palm, will only reduce it.
